Tanya’s Story

“Everything you need for healing & growth is within and around you.”

Rustic Heart Wellness grew from my personal journey toward better health and my desire to share the healing power of nature and holistic practices with others.

I started taking yoga classes at a local gym in college, and I didn’t realize until many years later that it would open the door to knowledge and community that would change the course of my life.

What started as a physical practice, had a profound impact on my mental and physical health.

I pursued yoga teacher training to deepen my practice. I learned different healing modalities during that time and found a new way of thinking and being. I began to acknowledge my unhealthy relationship with food and alcohol, but despite my best efforts to live in a healthy way, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. I was determined to heal my mind and body holistically despite the discouraging words from my doctors, and I gravitated toward natural and herbal alternatives.

Over time, my health started to improve, and I became fascinated with nature as medicine. I decided to pursue extensive studies in herbalism and aromatherapy on an organic farm through the Boston School of Herbal Studies. I began building relationships with the plants and developing my skills in the art of herbalism.

I discovered a deeper connection to the energy and rhythms of the natural world.

The years I spent practicing yoga had prepared me to find presence and stillness in nature, allowing me to find a sense of belonging within the living world. I wanted to learn more and explore ways to support others in finding this connection, so I enrolled in training at the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership to safely guide outdoor nature experiences.

Today, I stand as living proof that exploring mind and body practices with curiosity, being open to support, and embracing nature can lead to profound healing.

I’m celebrating six years of sobriety, have fostered a nourishing relationship with food, and achieved remission from my auto-immune diagnosis.

Now, my mission is to serve as a guide and create nurturing spaces for others to discover vibrant well-being. You'll often find me doing yoga, enjoying nature walks, and lending a hand on nearby farms to spend time with the plants.

Herbalism empowered me to regain agency over my health. In today's fast-paced lifestyle, our connection with nature is often overlooked. I aspire to guide others in rediscovering this vital connection, cultivating inner peace and a sense of belonging within themselves and their communities.
